WHAT: Palo Alto Art Center Foundation's spectacular 7th Annual Style 2011 Wearable Art Show and Sale returns on Saturday April 30, 2011 making its debut at the historic Lucie Stern Community Center. Featuring unique artisan-made clothing, jewelry, and accessories, this year's showcase welcomes a host of new and returning artists from throughout California and beyond, live models, and a unique opportunity to meet the designers in person. Style 2011 is a must for fashion-savvy collectors and craft enthusiasts alike.
Style 2011 moves to the Lucie Stern Community Center as the Palo Alto Art Center goes On the Road with its programs and events as the Center undergoes its long-awaited renovation. The warm, inviting atmosphere at Lucie Stern creates a unique and sophisticated indoor/outdoor environment for this year's event, with artists' booths set up throughout the 1934 Spanish Colonial complex's stately rooms and sunny outdoor patios.
Discover the inspired design and originality of wearable art made by over 38 locally and nationally renowned artists. From classic textile and jewelry pieces to cutting edge and eco-conscious designs, Style 2011 has it all. Whether it's jewelry that incorporates creatively reused materials such as tin cans, tops of luxurious pieced cashmere, or unique handbags with semi-precious stones, you're sure to find one-of-a-kind wearable art to instantly transform any outfit.
A key fundraiser for the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation, Style 2011 continues to benefit children's art education programs at the Palo Alto Art Center. "Style has become a much-anticipated annual event. Nowhere else can the astute shopper find such a wide selection of hand-made clothing, jewelry and accessories to reflect her individual outlook and personality. Style gives women the freedom to express themselves while shopping in a fun, communal setting," says Diane Master, Style 2011 producer and manager of the Center's Gallery Shop for two decades.
Style 2011 is open to the public and admission is free for all Palo Alto Art Center Foundation (PAACF) members and $10.00 for non-members. Lunch is available for purchase from Calafia Café & Market a Go Go. A special breakfast will be held the morning of the event in the outdoor patio for Advocate-level members ($250 and above) from 9 a.m.–10 a.m. Members attending the breakfast will able to shop for a half hour before doors open to the general public.
