The Palo Alto Art Center Foundation provides monetary support for a variety of programs offered by the
Palo Alto Art Center.
Cultural Kaleidoscope
Professional artists, teachers and schoolchildren from Palo Alto and East Palo Alto come together to create new bonds of understanding. The catalyst is an intensive art project. The outcome is a new appreciation of differences and a pride in completing and exhibiting their finished work.
Family Days
Families make art and have fun under the watchful eye of professional artists and volunteers during drop-in family days throughout the year.
Project LOOK!
In a time of dramatically reduced school resources for art education, Project LOOK!, with its theme of connecting gallery visits by elementary-age schoolchildren to discussions and hands-on art experiences, provides a critical resource for students and schools in the Bay Area.
Family Guides
In recent years the Foundation sponsored the printing and distribution of Family Guides. "Off the Wall! A Guide to Greg Brown Murals in Palo Alto" sent thousands in search of artist Greg Brown's lively murals in downtown Palo Alto.
Abramovitz Scholarship Fund (brochure, PDF 1.1 MB)
The Carrie Abramovitz Art Scholarship Fund opens the doors to art learning for students, ages 8 to 18, who have demonstrated outstanding artistic ability. Each scholarship recipient follows an individually designed course of study working with an artist/teacher/advisor at the Art Center. The fund was established in the memory of Carrie Abramovitz, an artist and long-time resident of Palo Alto.
The Foundation also supports a myriad of other programs at the Palo Alto Art Center ranging from the Art & Technology Studio, Master Artist workshops, slide lectures, and exhibitions.
